His musical journey began with a fascination for diverse genres, from the intricate progressions of 70s music to the infectious melodies of 80s pop. At age 9, he discovered hip hop, a lifelong love affair that led him to explore the rich history of Black American music, the foundation of all modern popular music, as he sees it.
Though initially playing drums and guitar, Mange now focuses on crafting melodies and lyrics, collaborating with other musicians to bring his visions to life. He's deeply involved in every aspect, from songwriting and arrangement to production and mixing.
Mange Schmidt has enjoyed a successful career, spanning five albums, an EP, and numerous singles. He's performed live extensively for nearly two decades across Sweden, Norway, Finland, Spain, and the US. His achievements include gold, platinum, multi-platinum certifications and Grammy nominations.
Looking ahead, Mange is excited for his new melotronica chapter. This transition involves a shift from Swedish to English lyrics, rap to singing, and hip hop to a fresh, innovative sound. New singles released throughout 2025 will culminate in a full album.
Drawing inspiration from a wide range of artists like Kraftwerk, Pink Floyd, Wham, Big Daddy Kane, Rakim, Christine & The Queens, and Tame Impala, Mange Schmidt strives to create music that evokes curiosity, courage, hope, and a love for life.

Mange has a name for this wonderful, mental place that you can reach through the universal language of music. He calls it - The Ghötto. A wordplay of the word "Ghetto" and the often used, Swedish dialectal word "Gött" or "Göttigt", meaning really good, great, nice, awesome etc. Everyone with an open mind and a warm heart are welcome to The Ghötto ❤️
